My Congresswoman got shot in the head - And all I got was this lousy T-Shirt.

Ok, we've got the flags at half-mast, Barry and Michelle have stood outside the White House for their moments of silence, we've had a memorial/rally/cometogether moment in Arizona, complete with T-shirts, and I can only imagine the levels of fake emotion we're going to be exposed to at this weekend's NFL playoff games.
For the love of God....The stadium opened the concession stands for this memorial service....

How in the hell are they tying this to violent political rhetoric?  Is the goal to get people to shut up while this Chicago con artist and his goons continue to loot the Treasury?  Do we need to be polite and civil while pointing it out?

It's a conspiracy.

Gee, I wonder why the t-shirts only came in blue!?
If they were serious about 'together we thrive' I would've thought......never mind.

Friend - I hate to be the one to say it, but really, really in poor taste. That's all I'm going to say.

You speak for me also.
I'm glad you said it first.
This is wrong on so many levels.

(I posted previously here and left a link where this "t-shirt" meme came from but it got caught up in the spam catcher.)

Clarification needed - Poor taste on the part of the President, who put together a memorial rally complete with canned applause lines, complimentary T-shirts, and concession stands?
Or poor taste on the part of those who point out that having a political event like this godawful abortion was in very, very poor taste?

If you have to ask, I doubt there's any point in answering.

@Dr Ralph
Stop reading my mind.

Seriously Allen, all your article is missing is a "Who are the REAL victims here?" coda to truly round it out.

I'd call it tone deaf but that's way too mild a phrase to use.
It doesn't capture the essense of what you have done at all.
Not even a little bit.

Sometimes the English language fails rise to the occasion when you need it to describe something that you would hesitate to poke with a long stick.

I don't understand how you can even think this kind of stuff up let alone write it and put it out there for people to read.
You are better than that.

(shakes head)

It's...it's Beck-worthy.

Can someone get a scan of the entire shirt? I have read that the Together We Thrive shirt also has a little tidbit at the bottom of the shirt somewhere.

This will all be a faded memory by November 6, 2012.

But I'll wager money Obama mentions her at the State of the Union Address. In fact, if she's able to talk, I'll bet they run a live video feed from her hospital bed. At some point, I predict they will roll her out in a wheelchair just like they did with Christopher Reeve.

Tomorrow will be a great day to go target shooting. I'm going to bring both my Glocks and a brick of ammo I bought at a gun show.

Allen,
Tsk Tsk! It looks as if your "friend" the good Dr and Cedric are offended at your noting the obvious "pep rally" element of the "memorial service". My, but the collectivists are touchy when their tactics are pointed out. At least the "One" retains plausible deniability a la Clinton. It's called "triangulation".

Yeah, that must be it.
That's the secret reason we're offended.
Yeah, that has to be it.
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
(shrug)

My, but the collectivists...

Collectivists?
Huh?

That's like Communist but not sorta or something?
Huh?

Gee. Cedric uses upper case "c" in communist. OK I'll chip in a couple of quid for an adult edition of Webster's for him. Any other takers?

Anyone?

No, seriously.
What kind of an idiot calls someone...over the Internet... a "collectivist"?

Who talks like that in the real world?

It says a lot more about the person trying to pin the label than the one that is supposed to be labeled.

Fail.
Think before you comment next time.

"[C]ollectivism refers to any philosophy or system that puts any kind of group (such as a class, nation, race, society, state, etc.) before the individual."

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck; it is very likely in fact a duck.

A definition?
Thank you.

So how do you get "from here to there"?

What has the good Doctor or myself written on this thread that tipped you off that we are "collectivists" (???) of all things?

Exactly where and when "did the duck walk" for you?

How do you know that Dr Ralph and I don't have wildly different political philosophies that have nothing much at all to do with "collectivism" or whatever?

Share some details on how you go about detecting "collectivists" (according to the definition)...from complete strangers on the Internet.

This is a uniquely entertaining situation for me.
It's fascinating.

I can honestly say that I have never, ever been called a "collectivist" before.

In fact, I've never observed a discussion (heated or otherwise) where somebody referred to somebody else as a "collectivist".

It's as odd and quirky as calling someone a crypto-syndicalist or a suppressive person or something.

People don't talk like that in the real world.

Throwing labels around is easy.
Engaging in a real argument is hard.

Hmm... I think it's time to resign as house troll. I've run out of things to say that raise the level of discourse.

Have fun without me.

Dr Ralph comrade,

Your intelectually uplifting pearls will be sorely missed by many of us libertarian swine. Perhaps your Avatar can remain for our edification and amusement via the Korean(?) server.
