Wake Up America / Tea Party Rally - Tarrant County Convention Center - Mark Davis, Pastor Stephen Broden, and Ann Coulter

I'm trying to LiveBlog the Wake Up America / Tea Party Rally in Fort Worth.  It's requiring everything I learned in Coalla King's typing class in North Sunflower Academy in 1978.  Hit "previous post" and "next post" at the bottom to get some context.

Radio personality Mark Davis is onstage, and he just asked the crowd if they think Christine O'Donnell can win in Delaware in November.

The crowd thinks O'Donnell can win.  They're pretty loud about it.
I'm not a huge Mark Davis fan, but he's doing a good job today.  The Tea Party has been branded as "intolerant" by the powers that be.  He's taking that falsehood and running with it.

Davis is intolerant of Republicans who don't get it, that we're tired of the spending.
He's intolerant of one-party rule.
He's intolerant of this, that, and the other.
It's a good riff, and a good speech so far.

Davis just mentioned Harry Reid.  Taking God out of the schools doesn't get the boos that Harry just got.

*******

Next onstage is Pastor Stephen Broden, the guy who just might send Obama's Scholarship Czar Eddie Bernice Johnson to a less profitable job of ripping you off at airport concessions.  I'm just going to sit back and listen to this man talk.  Maybe there will be a video from this event.  In the meantime, enjoy this:

Pastor Broden is laying out one of the best cases for Constitutional government that I've ever heard, and he's contrasting Constitutional government with the antics of the current den of thieves in Washington.

Broden is winding it down with a great line...."We will no longer be governed by political correctness.  We are not going to be P.C., we will be C.C.    We are going to be Constitutionally correct."

He's getting standing-O's any time he wants to get one.  This man is a brilliant speaker.

He just called Barack Obama a Bolshevik.  (Tea Party goers and Tea Party speakers have been called racist so many times that they take it easy on poor ol' Barack.  The speakers who came before Broden have taken a few shots at Obama, but they didn't get much applause.  It wouldn't look good.  Stephen Broden just innoculated us against charges of racism, and we can applaud his line about Barack The Bolshevik.)

Now he's got us all chanting PUSH BACK, PUSH BACK, PUSH BACK, PUSH BACK, AND WHEN WE DO, WE WILL WIN ! ! ! !

*********
Note to whoever his Twittering and Twixting my accounts of this event - Thanks !
*********

Ann Coulter is next, and is the final speaker.

She's starting off with a few minutes of stand-up comedy, most of which is pretty good.  "Under ObamaCare, you have to purchase insurance.  If you don't buy insurance, you have to pay a fine.  If you don't pay the fine, you can go to jail.  I believe this is know as The Public Option".

"Our government won't allow medical insurance to be sold across state lines.  They can't keep a Mexican Nationals out of Laredo, but they can keep a State Farm agent out of Louisiana."

Note to Ann Coulter from The Whited Mama: I like you on TV, but stop brushing your hair out of your eyes.

Coulter on Obama's European Apology Tours:  "Barack Obama just beat Tiger Woods' one day record of saying 'I'm sorry" by a mixed race male."

I THINK Coulter might be the first speaker to mention the Ground Zero Mosque, and it gets a lot of boos.  (I've been in and out a lot.)
She pointed out that the lowest unemployment rate during the Obama presidency was the day he became president.  I haven't thought about it that way before....

Coulter proposed 10 rules for the future:
1) Allow insurance to be sold across state lines
2) Build a 10 foot moat filled with alligators across every inch of the American border
3) Outlaw any TV show with word "Kardashian"
4) Cut income taxes
5) Cut property taxes
6) Cut the power to Obama's teleprompter
7) Rescind any stimulus spending
8) Rescind any bailout spending
9) Rescind Joe Biden's membership in Hair Club For Men
10) Make Scott Brown pose nude in Cosmo again

Well, that's the end of it.  It's been fun.  It's been a typing challenge.  The speakers are all coming back on stage while one of the singers does "God Bless America", but most of the crowd is headed for the exits.  They have been fed.  Fed on good, wholesome American red meat.

My friend Adrian Murray works his rear end off making these events happen.  If you gotta buy a wiring harness, get it from Painless Performance Products.  Adrian appreciates your support.

If you gotta vote, vote Libertarian ! !

Wake Up America / Tea Party Rally - Tarrant County Convention Center - Adrian Murray,

I'm trying to liveblog a Tea Party.  Go to the bottom of this post and hit "Next" or "Previous" to give this stuff some context.

My friend Adrian Murray is now giving his speech.  I love this guy.  He's an immigrant, he's a succesful entrepreneur, and he should be the #1 Google search result for "Jobs Created Or Saved", not the insane government programs put forth by Pelosi, Reid, or The Teleprompter Jesus.

The main quote that Adrian is working with comes from Sam Adams:

The liberties of our Country, the freedom of our civil constitution are worth defending at all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have receiv'd them as a fair Inheritance from our worthy Ancestors: They purchas'd them for us with toil and danger and expence of treasure and blood; and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle; or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men. Of the latter we are in most danger at present: Let us therefore be aware of it. Let us contemplate our forefathers and posterity; and resolve to maintain the rights bequeath'd to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. — Instead of sitting down satisfied with the efforts we have already made, which is the wish of our enemies, the necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that "if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom." It is a very serious consideration, which should deeply impress our minds, that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event.

Adrian hasn't done anything yet with the fact that "millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event", but lordy, that would be a fertile line to go off on.  Think of the millions and millions of unborn American kids who will have diminished lives because of the debts run up by this generation.

Adrian Murray knows how to work a crowd.  He's going through a roll call of what all the "false and designing men" have done in the last few years, getting a crescendo going that's rolling around the convention center.  He runs a company that manufactures automobile wiring harnesses, but he's a better speaker than all of the professional speakers who came before him on the program.  He owns this crowd.

I can almost forgive him his lines about wanting to bring the gods back into the public schools.

The Wake Up America Tea Party ! Part 3 ! Kathie Glass vs Larry Kilgore

I'm frantically pounding all this into my laptop from the Wake Up America Tea Party in Fort Worth.

During Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Kathie Glass's speech, someone rushed the stage.  I couldn't tell what was going on, but the police quickly got him out of the building.
It turns out that he was trying to do something to the U.S. flag.

Flash back a couple of months to our Libertarian meetup welcoming Kathie to Fort Worth.  A guy named Larry Kilgore got into a yelling match with Kathie about the option of seceding from the United States.....

Here's a video of Larry Kilgore expressing his worldview.....

That first 15 seconds gets you, doesn't it?
Kilgore is supposedly a military veteran. But he hates the U.S. flag, and the fact that it flies anywhere over Texas.
Why he picks Kathie Glass speeches as a backdrop for his protests is a mystery.

I'll tell you this much....put Larry Kilgore in a steel cage deathmatch with Kathie Glass?  My money is on Kathie.
This could be an interesting feud.

Wake Up America / Tea Party Rally - Tarrant County Convention Center, Fort Worth TX, September 18, 2010

, I'm writing this from the Wake Up America / Tea Party rally.  To see pics from the concourse, go to the bottom of this and hit "Previous Post".
I heard Barack Obama in Dallas during the 2008 campaign, when he was at the peak of his popularity.  That was nothing like this.  There are some hacked off people in this country.
But if we're not careful, we're going to Demoblicans with Republicrats.  We'll see.

The first speaker I got to hear was Dr. Suzanna Hupp, whose parents were killed by a deranged gunman at a Luby's cafeteria in Killeen TX.  According to Dr. Hupp, the only missing element in the scenario was a good guy with a gun.
She had left her pistol in her car.  Had she been able to bring it into the restuarant, her parents would probably be alive today.
An armed society is a polite society.

She went through a litany of every mass shooting we've had in America.  Every one of them was in a "Gun Free Zone".  INCLUDING THE ONE ON AN ARMY BASE.
You could feel the withering contempt in Dr. Hupp's voice, as she patiently explained how gun control laws are some of the most racist ones on the books.
The best summary I've found of her experience and her current goals is on.....Ted Nugent's website.  You've gotta love Uncle Ted.

The next speaker is Brigitte Gabriel.  She doesn't like Islam very much.  Go here to have a look at her website.
I'm getting ready to hear something about the Ground Zero Mosque....but it hasn't happened yet.
She's concerned about terrorist organizations working across the Mexican border.  (Any mention of the Mexican border is going to be a hit , I think.)
Maybe a Youtube of Ms. Gabriel's speech will be posted sometime.  Giving a summary of her talk is like trying to transcribe a Lebanese auctioneer.
She just threw down some stuff about making America "Energy Independent", which is a bullshit goal.  As long as the Middle East is "Dollar Dependent", we're in good shape.
Now she's reading Muslim prayers that they're teaching and making students memorize someplace in the public school system.  I don't believe a word of it.
I don't think they teach anything in the public school system.
Gabriel just asked all the veterans to stand and be applauded.  The crowd has gone nuts.  She's asked them to remain standing while she rants.  They remain standing.  They're still standing.  The Korea vets are getting tired and they're sitting down, mid-rant.  Another old guy with Viet Nam patches on his jacket just took a seat.  The Gulf War vets are shuffling impatiently, but they're holding strong.  Ah....you can all be seated now.

Kathie Glass is the next speaker.  She's our Libertarian candidate for Texas governor, and I can't wait to hear what she's going to say about Texas Republican governor Rick Perry in front of this crowd.  This will be a juggling act.

Kathie starts off by mentioning Texas and Ronald Reagan in the same sentence.

She goes through what she calls The Texas Bullwark Plan....
1) Secure the border using the Texas State Guard.
Kathie outlines the plan, and the Constitutional rationale behind it, and gets some applause !
2) Restore Texas sovereignty
Push back against Obamacare, and make use of nullification !
Somebody just rushed the stage, and the cops lead them out.  Probably a lobbyist.
3) Put our fiscal house in order.
Eliminate various taxes.  Make use of the line item veto.
4) Strengthen our private property rights.
She doesn't rip Perry on Eminent Domain and the Trans Texas Corridor.

"It was the 'experienced' politicians who got us into this mess, and it won't be the 'experienced' politicians who get us out of us." - Kathie Glass
Kathie just threw down a good testicle joke, something about growing a pair, but I didn't catch all of it.
Kathie did great.

Next up - Debra Medina.  Gonna catch a bathroom break.
No I'm not.  Medina just said "We need a Free Texas with two things: Private Property and Guns".

Will post more later.

The Wake Up America Tea Party ! Tarrant County Convention Center, Fort Worth TX

The first Tea Party event in Fort Worth was a somewhat impromptu happening behind one of my favorirte watering holes, The Cowtown Bar & Grill.  There may have been 150 people there.

That was then, this is now.  We've moved on to the Fort Worth Convention Center.  I don't think the first Tea Party even had a stage.  There was just a microphone on loan from the country-rock band who started the thing.
The presentation has gotten more professional, while my photography skills have remained the same:
Here's Tarrant County Libertarian Party chair John Spivey, helping our LP candidate for Texas governor, Kathie Glass, convert a few Tea Partiers.

And we have the usual Temple Courtyard full of T-shirt vendors.  These folks had the best selection, my favorite being "Capitalism" in the Coca-Cola logo.

This is me with The Statue Of Liberty.

A T-Shirt that gets straight to the point....

Here's Dallas Congressional candidate John Jay Myers, trying to convert Mike Coyne into someone who will purchase a T-shirt (John Jay eventually gave us all a freebie).

This guy, Princeton Benson, is affiliated with GAME CHAINgers (more on them later).  They're an African-American conservative group affiliated with Pastor Stephen Broden.  Everyone at this booth has been working out a lot more than I have.

And this made me happier than an old hog in new slop.  I had heard this guy, Gregory Parker, on a local radio show a few weeks back.  He's written a book called "Global Warming...Really?"

It's not every day that one has the opportunity to meet a published skeptic.

I now have a signed copy.  Will post about it soon.
That's all for now.  Gonna go inside the convention center and listen to the rants.  Hit "Next Post" below to learn more about the Wake Up America/Tea Party Rally.
Lordy, I love these things.

Lisa Murkowski - "Baby, You Done Lost Your Good Thing Now"

Senator Lisa Murkowski (Exxon - R), having failed to get the Republican nomination or the Libertarian nomination, is making one last appeal to her base:

Less than an hour before Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski planned to announce a write-in campaign to retain her seat, her top aide e-mailed scores of the most prominent lobbyists in Washington to ask them to join a Saturday conference call with the senator.

The emails went to another segment of her supporters that couldn't be ignored:

Karen Knutson, Murkowski’s chief of staff, emailed scores of top lobbyists in town and employees at some of the largest oil companies – including Chevron, Conoco Phillips and Marathon Oil – to ask them to join the senator on a conference call Saturday, according to a copy of the e-mail and a recipient list obtained by POLITICO.

PORKULUS SAVES 55 JOBS ! GIVE US MORE ! GIVE US MORE !!!!!

From Patterico's Pontifications:

9/16/2010

Your Stimulus Dollars at Work: $2 Million Per Job

It’s the largest city audit of stimulus dollars to date, and the results aren’t pretty:
CITY CONTROLLER RELEASES AUDITS OF HOW LOS ANGELES HAS USED FEDERAL STIMULUS MONEY
$111 Million in ARRA Funds Has Only Created 55 Jobs So Far
Continuing her efforts to ensure that taxpayer money is spent efficiently and effectively, City Controller Wendy Greuel released two audits today of how the City of Los Angeles has used American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds. The audits looked at the how the two departments that have received the largest amount of ARRA funding so far – the Department of Transportation (LADOT) and the Department of Public Works (DPW) – have used those funds and how many jobs were created. Los Angeles becomes the largest City in America to conduct an audit of how ARRA funds have been expended.
DPW has received $70.65 million and created or retained 45.46 jobs, though they are expected to create 238 jobs overall (the fraction of a job created or retained correlates to the number of actual hours works). LADOT has been awarded $40.8 million and created or retained 9 jobs, though they are expected to create 26 jobs overall. Overall, the Departments have received $111 million in federal stimulus funds out of the $594 million the City has been awarded so far and created or retained 54.46 jobs.
$111 million for 55 jobs. That’s $2 million per job.
Even if you look at the number of jobs they expect to create (”or save”), it’s only 264. $111 million for 264 jobs is about $420,454 per job.
Hey, can you guys create a 56th job for me? I could use $2 million.
Failing that, can you return my tax dollars that you wasted?

Next time you hear The Teleprompter Jesus talking about how many jobs have been created or saved with Porkulus money, remember this.  Think of how many jobs you could "create or save" with $2,000,000.00   Probably a lot more than ONE.

You can get the T-shirt here.

Global Climate Disruption ! ! !

I KNEW this day would come.  They could no more leave those words alone than they could avoid touching the wall behind a "Wet Paint" sign.

I just KNEW they would do this one day, and I'm kicking myself for not predicting it online someplace.

The phrase they had was plenty vague enough and broad enough to cover anything that could possibly happen.  But Nooooooo......they had to be even more vague, just in case the word "change" was too precise.

Here goes.

From CNSNEWS.com:
John Holdren, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, says that the term "global warming" is "a dangerous misnomer” that should be replaced with “global climate disruption."
You bet your ass the term "global warming" is dangerous.  You see, there's a good chance that it could get cold.  What would happen to all the Cap'N'Tax funding then?  What would happen to all the Green Energy wealth transfer schemes?

At the Environmental Protection Agency's 40th celebration of the Clean Air Act on Tuesday, Holdren said, "I think one of the failures of the scientific community was in embracing the term 'global warming'. Global warming is in fact a dangerous misnomer." And in a speech last week in Norway, echoing remarks he made at a 2007 speech at Harvard University, Holdren said the term "global climate disruption" should be used instead of "global warming."
Holdren has skipped the equally offensive (and perhaps dangerous) term "climate change" altogether, kind of like some people skipped using the somewhat weird term "Afro-American" when it was politically correct for about two weeks (between "Black" and "African American") in the late 1970's or early 1980's.

So....From now on, anyone on this site wishing to discuss Global Cooling Global Warming Climate Change making money from the weather will be required to use the phrase Global Climate Disruption.

All other phrases are too risky.

Check this out, from a link provided by Jacob Sullum of Reason magazine:

These are the top contributors to the main group opposing marijuana legalization in California.

The #1 contributor is SA Recycling.  Guess what they recyle?
Metal cans.

The #2 contributor?
The California Beer & Beverage Distributors.

#3 is someone named Diane Lake.  If the Diane Lake is the person whose contributions are shown here, she has given a ton of money to various Republicans and Barack Obama.  Not that there's any difference between the two on this issue.

Ms. Lake is followed by the Deputy Sheriffs and the Narcotics Agents, two groups who are concerned about job security (their own, not the people whose lives they destroy because of a victimless crime).

Here's Steve Fox, co-author of Marijuana Is Safer, on the surprising number of Bud Distributors (the drink, not the weed) opposing marijuana legalization:
Unless the beer distributors in California have suddenly developed a philosophical opposition to the use of intoxicating substances, the motivation behind this contribution is clear. Plain and simple, the alcohol industry is trying to kill the competition. They know that marijuana is less addictive, less toxic and less likely to be associated with violent behavior than alcohol. So they don't want adults to have the option of using marijuana legally instead of alcohol. Their mission is to drive people to drink.

Feds Spent $800,000 of Economic Stimulus on African Genital-Washing Program

Just when I think this administration can't get any weirder.
We're now applying stimulus to African genitals.
I don't know what we're trying to revive or grow.
God, I'm so ashamed of commenting on this.  I just can't help myself....

(CNSNews.com) – The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), spent $823,200 of economic stimulus funds in 2009 on a study by a UCLA research team to teach uncircumcised African men how to wash their genitals after having sex.

The first questions that comes to mind are these....If this project was carried out with stimulus funds, were these African men living in the United States when they received their "training"?

Were the Genital Washers local unemployed folks who had been laid off at a factory in Bakersfield?

Did the Professors Of Penile Purity then go out and spend their salaries in American neighborhoods, having put in a hard day at the classroom /washroom /restroom /whorehouse washbasin?

Did this project produce a Keynesian "multiplier effect"?

The genitalia-washing program is part of a larger $12-million UCLA study examining how to better encourage Africans to undergo voluntary HIV testing and counseling – however, only the penis-washing study received money from the 2009 economic stimulus law. The washing portion of the study is set to end in 2011.

Are the Africans required to post stimulus signage near the....cleanup site?  Does anyone know how long it took for someone to make a joke about the stimulus "package"?

“NIH Announces the Availability of Recovery Act Funds for Competitive Revision Applications,” the grant abstract states. “We propose to evaluate the feasibility of a post-coital genital hygiene study among men unwilling to be circumcised in Orange Farm, South Africa.”

Imagine that you're sitting around a meeting room in Philadelphia in the early 1770's.  The Founders are all there.  They're discussing the proper role of government in the new nation.  How big should the government be?  How much money should the government spend?  Jefferson, Hamilton, John Jay - the entire brain trust is there in the room with you.  One faction wants a strong federal government while the other wants to give more power to the states.

You have an inspiration.  You raise your hand and the current chairman, Benjamin Franklin, recognizes you and allows you to speak.

You step to the center of the room, clear your throat, and say "I propose to evaluate the feasibility of a post-coital genital hygiene study among men unwilling to be circumcised in Orange Farm, South Africa ! !"

But I digress....

Because AIDS researchers have been unsuccessful in convincing most adult African men to undergo circumcision, the UCLA study proposes to determine whether researchers can develop an after-sex genitalia-washing regimen that they can then convince uncircumcised African men to follow.

I propose that Barbra Streisand, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and Michelle Obama get everyone's heads together to see if they "can develop an after-sex genitalia-washing regimen that they can convince uncircumcised African men to follow".  Preferably with hands-on experience.

All honest work is honorable.

“The aim of the proposed feasibility study is to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a post-coital male genital hygiene procedure, which participants will be asked to practice immediately post-coitus or at least 12 hours after,” reads the abstract.

Here's a Facebook message on the issue from a friend of mine.  I don't think she's going to volunteer for this stimulus program, regardless of the number of jobs created or saved:

OMG. There just aren't words. And DO NOT GET ME STARTED on the likelihood of men contracting HIV from women being so much less likely than the women from men, and what does this imply about the status/value of women in a place where rape is common place....oh hell, where did I put that soap box?! Some dumb ass probably sent it to Africa so some yay-hoo could be persuaded to wash his (censored slang term for the object of stimulus funding)....And I am NOT EVEN a feminist! I want my taxes back!
Entitled “Community-Based HIV VCT: South Africa,” the name of the broader umbrella project, the program plans to test how well received the penis-washing regimen is among South African men.

Like all other foolish government forays into education, it's going to depend on the quality of the teacher.  Years of experience, efficiency, thoroughness, etc.
You can hit the link at the top to read the rest.  I'm out of double-entendres for the evening.
God, I'm so ashamed of writing this.

Tea Party candidate wins in Delaware; Republicans show their true colors

Ok, a small-government candidate endorsed by the Tea Party wins in Delaware last night, and the Republicans say they aren't going to support their own candidate.

Is there any doubt that the Republicrats and the Demoblicans are the two faces of the same unholy beast?

The Republicans are in the business of preserving the system, not changing it.

The Libertarian Party awaits.

More on Elizabeth ! Warren !!

Obama is considering a recess appointment of Elizabeth ! Warren !!

Now that the Saints have won a Super Bowl, could this possibly be next ?
Think of it....Elizabeth !  Warren !!

Senator Harry Reid arrives at a clean energy summit in a fleet of SUV's.

Here's a beautiful picture of Senator Harry Reid arriving to address a clean energy summit.

Pay no attention to that fleet of SUV's in the background.  Go here and here for details.
Irony is so lost on those people.
I'll say it before, and I'll say it again.  NONE of our politicians believe ANY of the Anthropogenic Global Warming Horsecrap.  NONE.
It is an easy way for them to gain power from the gullible.

Ten things more dangerous than The Ground Zero Mosque

Here's a quick listing of all the things I can quickly think of that are more dangerous than a mosque a couple of blocks from the World Trade Center site.  IMHO, all of these are a much greater threat to your physical and economic well-being than the Ground Zero Wedge Issue.

1.  Your Friendly Neighborhood Swat Team - They're starting to show up at the wrong houses, based on bad info, for ridiculous reasons.  Then if you're lucky the worst thing they do is shoot your dogs.

2.  Democrats - Their Senators and Representatives want to get between you and your doctor with ObamaCare.  They want more of your money to give to their constituents.

3.  Republicans - Their Senators and Representatives have no intention of repealing ObamaCare, otherwise we would have seen a "Contract With America" campaign based on doing so.  They want more of your money to give to their constituents.

4.  Saudi Arabia - To name just one.  Almost all of the 9-11 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia.  After 9-11, we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan.

5.  American military bases - They're costing us a fortune, advocates claim that they're for defensive purposes on American soil, and yet if a disgruntled Major wants to go on a shooting spree in the middle of one of them, nobody can find a gun to use in self-defense.  That's a great use of your money, isn't it?  Plus we have soldiers in 135 other countries.  How would you feel about a Mexican military base in the middle of Dallas?  Would it irritate you?  Would it make you want to take up arms against the Mexican invader?

6.  The Federal Reserve - The Dems and Republicans are on a spending spree like none other the world has ever seen.  How are we going to pay for it?  We're going to print our way out of debt.  Your dollars are about to be worth a quarter.  Unfortunately, this is hard to understand and is boring.  Muslims in Manhattan are easy to see, and they typically dress differently.  Great target for politicians who need a distraction.

7.  Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - They're still getting people into houses that they can't afford, with almost no down payment required.  But it's ok if they default.  Fannie and Freddie are there to step in and make it all ok between the borrower and the bank.  (Using your money, of course.)

8.  Our insane drug prohibition laws - The Texas/Mexico border is a very dangerous place because Mexican drug cartels are fighting each other for control of the drug corridor.  Our border with Canada, however, is perfectly safe.  But back during the era of alcohol prohibition, the U.S./Canada border was a very dangerous place because bootleggers were fighting each other for control of the moonshine corridor.  Prohibition equals violence.

9.  The other million or so Mosques, meeting rooms, houses and apartments within 20 miles of Ground Zero - There are already 9 Mosques in Manhattan, and I can promise you that the CIA and FBI have them infested with more bugs than the Iraqi embassy.  If the bad guys are going to meet someplace to plot another attack on the U.S., it ain't going to be at the Ground Zero Mosque.

10.  People who don't understand Liberty - Free Speech, Gun Rights, Freedom Of Assembly, and Property Rights aren't things that we vote on.  They are things that we protect.  We shouldn't even have to think about it.  If our Muslim friends want to show up on their property (a couple of blocks from the World Trade Center site) so they can study the writings and ravings of an illiterate pedophile, they should be allowed to do so.

Has anyone else noticed that the sky is no longer falling?

How long has it been since you saw any new propaganda from The Church Of Global Warming?

If the priests of the COGW truly believed that the earth is melting, we would still be getting daily updates on the upcoming disaster.
Unfortunately for everyone in The Nunnery Of Saint Albert Of Music City, there is no longer any money to be made on the project.
As soon as money is once again available to save us - say, if the Dems retain control of Congress - more wild-eyed research will be made public, research that will justify the government purchase of more incredibly expensive Green Things, Wholesome Devices, Impurity Eliminators and Perpetual Motion Machines.

After all, there's no point in screaming that the sky is falling if nobody has money to spend on a Skyhook.

John Jay Myers and a genuinely "fair" income tax proposal

My friend John Jay Myers, who is running for Congress in the Texas 32nd district (against Pete "Bailout" Sessions, BTW), sent me this epistle via Facebook.

Listening to the news today, it seems like there is a mad rush to see who is going to cut your taxes more. The Republicans of course want to continue the Bush Tax cuts, and the Democrats have answered saying somehow they are going to cut your taxes even more.

It’s like watching a herd of clowns getting back into their little clown car.

Personally I never met a tax cut I didn’t like. Most reasonable economists agree, tax cuts should help to spur the economy.

So lets face it everyone, until the election you are going to be stuck listening to each side pander to you, as if their interest was ever YOU.

If the Republicans and the Democrats really cared about you, and invigorating the economy, they would suspend the income tax for a year. That’s right just plain let you keep your money. You know why? Because that is what they claim they are going to do with all the tax cuts any way, It just so happens.... it never happens.

So right now, while they are all in the spirit of giving, while they all seem to agree that tax cuts are good, let’s see them all man up and put a tax cut on the table that would really help you. AND DO IT RIGHT NOW! Let’s see them, suspend the income tax for 1 year. Starting NOW.

I have to intervene here.  According to Ron Paul, we could totally eliminate the income tax and still fund our Federal Government at late 1990's levels.  But that would reward the wealthy more than it rewards the poor (who pay no income tax at all).  Because of our inability to square this particular circle, we will always have an income tax

You should understand that they were perfectly willing to give to the banks much more of your money than this.... oh, but you are not a bank. I forgot, you are just that little guy they keep stepping on.

I am at the point where I no longer want to hear about tax cuts, not unless they want to talk about what got us here in the first place, they have to stop spending money. They are never specific about what they would stop spending money on, because they are addicts, because that is how they feed the people that pay their bills, the lobbyists, when it comes to spending these guys spend all day trying to figure out how to get your money into their friends' pockets. When they print money to get more of it to spend; as they have to when cutting taxes, the money in your bank account or pocket loses its value, thus creating the worst tax of all, inflation. A tax that truly devastates the poor and middle class.

It’s easy to recklessly endorse any tax cut on the table, but to not pair it with drastic cuts in spending shows that these people do not care about you or the future of this country.

He would appreciate all the support he can get at http://www.johnjaymyers.com/

He is also on the Texas Executive Committee for the Libertarian Party and the Vice-Chair for Dallas County.

The picture of Reid, Pelosi, Boehner, & Co. getting out of their clown car came from here.

On Chris McGregor's hair in Godley Texas, and signs with more than 10 colors in Cleveland Ohio

From Reason magazine's "Daily Brickbats" column:

Officials at Godley Middle School in Texas have placed 12-year-old Chris McGregor in in-school detention until he cuts his hair. The school dress code bars male students from having hair below the shoulders, and McGregor's locks are too long. Superintendent Paul Smithson says the rule helps reduce bullying. You see, students who stand out in some way might be teased or picked on, said Smithson. "And all of a sudden we have a problem."

A San Antonio news station has Smithson's complete quote:

"Bullying's a big thing, and we want to make sure everyone's dressed appropriately, someone doesn't bring attention to themselves so that someone says something to them, and all of a sudden we have a problem."

Lordy.
Mr. Smithson is probably a great guy, but he's been put in charge of enforcing unnecessary regulatory mess that was probably written as a response to the hippie movement in 1968.

I just happened to read this next exchange in the latest issue of Reason.  Here are Reason editor Nick Gillespie, TV funnyman Drew Carey, and The Cleveland Ohio City Council, discussing Reason's recent video series "Reason Saves Cleveland", in which Carey and other libertarians make some helpful suggestions about keeping Cleveland from going under

Councilor Zack Reed:   I’ll give you a great example. It leads right into what you’re saying. There’s a gentleman in the city of Cleveland who is a very successful businessperson who now works for one of the nonprofits. He owns a business in the city, and he wants to put in a $20,000 sign, because he’s trying to bring up his business. He applied for a variance to do it. This is what he says—I’m just going to read it because it’s pretty short: “If we have to go to the zoning review board, I understand that it may take 60 days for approval. That is simply too long. I applied for a variance on 4/21. Based on the progress to the day, I will have my sign installed by 9/1.…The summer will be over. The car wash will have lost more money. This is the kind of stuff that hurts Cleveland and puts people out of business. It’s just ridiculous. I need the variance to be approved ASAP so that the sign can be manufactured and I can have some hope of getting the sign installed before the summer’s over.”

Carey: That’s a lot of money for a car wash owner in Cleveland who can only be open in the summer.

Sweeney: Let me give some context to this. If you apply for a sign that’s within our regulation, it would take somewhere between three and five days. If it’s outside the regulations, it needs to be [no bigger than] four foot by eight foot, no more than two or three colors. If you want to go 10 by 10, and put it up a little bit higher, and have 10 colors on it, you have to get approval to go outside the variance.

Carey: Why does it matter how many colors are on it?

Sweeney: It’s one of the regulations we have.

Carey: Get rid of it.

Sweeney: Got it. But what I was trying to get at, the three to five days is if you stay within the regulations, if you agree with them. If you want to go outside, it’s six weeks to put it on the calendar and have it heard. And then all the other steps.

Carey: You should be able to put up whatever sign you want, man. If it’s your business.

Reed: But understand, you can say that simplistically. We can’t say that because there has to be some type of structure.

Yeah, otherwise people would be putting up signs with more than 10 colors.
You can hit the link above to read a transcript of the entire meeting.  High comedy breaks out several more times.
I think our bureaucracies are willing to go to the wall to defend their old unnecessary regulations just to avoid admitting that it was silly to enforce them in the past.

Don't bother with church this Sunday. Go here ! !

A lot of you begin your Sundays at this site, so that you can achieve the proper frame of mind for worship services at 11:00 a.m.
This morning, don't bother going to church.  You can get your kneeling, bowing, groveling and praying out of the way right here !

Please stand at your computer, turn in your lectionary to the reading entitled "Hear Our Prayer, Obama", and read with me:

You may be seated.

Now please turn to the back of your hymnal to responsive reading number 26, "The Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore Vow Of Service To Our Lord."

I know that you will want to greet Ashton & Demi in the narthex and thank them for their continuing commitment to our worthy cause.  Whatever that is this week.

Our services will end today with a performance from the childrens' choir.

Please stand for the Benediction:

May Obama bless you and keep you,
And may he make his face to smile upon you
And may Barack shower stimulus toward you.
May he lift up his countenance to you,
And give you peace.

Amen.
