It's not fair !!! (But we voted for it anyway)

Here's a young woman griping and moaning about the national debt being unfair to the younger generation.
Well, of course it isn't fair.

So why do so many kids fall for the Hope'n'Change bullshit?

Because they think they're being unselfish by bankrupting the nation .
Because we haven't done a good enough job of explaining that true selfishness resides in Lockheed, Monsanto, Green Energy Scams, and D.C. Lobbyists, instead of in the people who don't want to burdern them with a 17 trillion dollar debt.
Because my generation hasn't had to pay for anything yet, and these kids think they'll be able to pass on the mess just like we did.
Because John Maynard Keynes didn't die in his crib as an infant, and billions of people around the world now believe that governments should try to control economies.  (Yeah, kinda harsh, I know, but I'm in a hurry and couldn't think of a better way to phrase it.)
Because government schools promote government policies.
Because the Republican Party's stance on most social issues is repugnant to many people under 30.
Because the Republican Party, the primary opponent of the Hope'n'Change bullshit, is the party of big spending.
Because they truly believe, despite centuries of evidence to the contrary, that government can provide services more cheaply than the private sector.
Because those of us who see through the Hope'n'Change bullshit don't always make the best evangelists.  We're too pissed about it, if such a thing is possible.

Anyway, those are just a few reasons why I think the kids went for Hope'n'Change on their own credit cards.  I'm sure there are other reasons.

Joe Paterno and me. And maybe you.

There's been a lot of hand-wringing and outrage over Joe Paterno's failure to stop Jerry Sandusky's habit of sexually abusing young boys.
Paterno had knowledge of the crimes, and he had the power to do something.

Instead, Paterno put the interests of his organization first.  Penn State had a reputation.  Money was being made.  Maybe they weren't 100% sure, they told themselves.  Somebody else should deal with the problem of boy rape.  A scandal would give Ohio State or Nebraska or some other Big 10 rival a recruiting edge.  Nothing is worse than giving ammo to the other side.

There were plenty of good reasons to cover up the problem, or at least postpone dealing with it.

I'll bet Paterno's statue is torn down within a year.

But enough about Paterno.  Let's talk about me.  And maybe you.

Barack Obama has increased our national debt by 5 trillion dollars.  There are 81 million taxpayers in the U.S.  That means he has increase my share of the debt by $64,000.00 during the Obama administration.   (If you look at the total debt per taxpayer, it's up to $191,000.00)

I'm not doing enough about that problem.  Yeah, I work pretty hard with the Libertarians when I can, and I blog and bitch and moan every morning, but I don't do enough.

If you're expecting an angel to come down and force Sam Walton's kids and the Bass Brothers and Ann Marion Burnett to pay off everyone else's share, it ain't gonna happen and it wouldn't even help.  We could take every penny of taxable income away from the evil 1%, and it wouldn't even make a dent in Obama's DEFICIT spending per year.

George Bush got us into a couple of wars with people who didn't attack us.  Obama has bombed and droned in two or three other places.  We account for 45% of the world's military spending, and I know that a lot of bombs get dropped for the sole purpose of creating jobs at Lockheed and Bell Helicopter.  But I don't do enough about it.  I'm not out in the streets banging pots and pans together, the way we all think Joe Paterno should have.  I haven't chained myself to the gates at Lockheed.

Obama gave 3/4 of a trillion dollars to friends and supporters in the name of stimulus.  Lots of Democrats are obviously ashamed of this, but criticizing Obama would give ammo to the other side....the Ohio States, the Michigans, and other Big 10 rivals.  So they hunker down and comfort themselves with the polite fiction that this was a "stimulus", not a payoff.

Barack Obama, by all accounts, has smoked enough weed to BarBQ a T-Rex.  He also continues to imprison black males by the hundreds of thousands for smoking marijuana.  Is that wrong?  Does it piss you off that he's doing this to preserve government jailer and narc jobs?   And are you still going to vote for the hypocrital f***er because you don't want to admit that you made a bad choice in 2008?

All of this is going to blow up on us.  We're going to watch it happen, in slow motion, with plenty of time turn back.  We're not doing anything about it.  We're busy, we have families, and we have tribal loyalties to our own, whether it's Democrat or Republican.  We're sitting in our tribal groups, wondering who is going to swoop down and stop the incoming disaster, an economic meltdown that will make Weimar Germany look like The Love Boat.

The Penn State leadership will go on trial soon.  Prosecutors will be asking "what did you know, when did you know it, and why didn't you do something about the problem?".

They aren't going to have a good answer.

I don't have a good answer.  I've got to get to work.  I haven't seen the new Spiderman movie yet.  I want to read Keith Richards' autobiography.

Do you have a good answer?

Blog Comment Of The Decade

I'm sick and tired of messing with bureacracies.

I'm tired of the "city" of Richland Hills.  I'm tired of their code enforcement Nazis, and their chief, a little guy who is surfing the First Baptist Church Of Euless website every time I've walked past his office.

I'm tired of the Department Of Transportation making up arbitrary rules about how far my guys can travel, how long they have to rest, what kind of paperwork they have to have on board, and blah, blah, blah.  Look up CSA 2010 when time permits.
I'm tired of getting emails from online Sherpas who promise to help me navigate all the CSA 2010 bullshit.

The government digs a ditch, and then those who dug the ditch go into the private sector and set up shops to help you navigate the ditch.

I'm tired of The Federal Reserve printing money so George Bush, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and John Boehner can pay their bills without passing legislation or tax increases.  I'm disgusted by the (recent) revelation that The Fed has an entire "education" wing that goes out to propagandize school kids, but can't debate or even discuss their policies with a political party.

I'm sick of Barack Cokehead Obama carrying out raids on medical marijuana dispensaries.

I'm p.o.'d about all the highway patrolmen suddenly pulling over people around Loop 820, a stretch of interstate where I've seen very few accidents.  This has nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with revenue.  Between my workplace on the northside and my meeting area on the west side, I typically see 4 revenue generators with radar guns.  It's nuts, nuts, nuts.

Glenn Reynolds recently linked to a Reason magazine blog comment that I think is freakin' brilliant.  Here goes:

It's not a coincidence. Politicians, pundits, and professional, revolving-door bureacrats are 100% revenge of the f***ing nerds. Every loser in high school or college that just knew he was smarter and better than everyone else is in DC pacticing politics, writing about politics, and arbitrarily f***ing up the lives of everyone else with regulations just because they can.

Yep.  And we're going to keep putting up with it for how much longer?

The picture of bureaucratic hell came from here.

Quotation of the day

Our quotation of the day is from The Gospel According To Saint Thomas Sowell, via a commentary from Cafe Hayek.

One of the sad signs of our times is that we have demonized those who produce, subsidized those who refuse to produce, and canonized those who complain.

Yep.  That nails it.

There. I fixed it.

I started getting complaints a couple of weeks ago about this site taking too long to load.
I've since gone in and deleted a bunch of the countdowns and widgets that were clogging the blogroll area and I think that has helped.
But many of you were probably relying on these to keep up with upcoming disastrous events.

So....If you're wondering how long Obama has been a war-monger in the Middle East, he took over that project in January of '09.

Al Gore predicted that the polar ice caps would melt by 2013.  He better get his ass up there with a blowtorch.

Our national debt was around 13.5 trillion dollars.  But don't worry, the Republicans are about to raise the debt ceiling to 14 trillion.  Be not afraid, dear flock of Sheeple, they're going to see to it that you get shafted.

I've also deleted all the little widgets and do-hickeys to TopBlogSites and things of that nature.
That oughta help.
There.  I fixed it.
