U.N. Climate Change panel travels to Cancun Freakin' Mexico. While the U.K. freezes.

While the U.K. is struggling with its earliest widespread snowfall since 1993, the U.N.'s Climate Alarmist panel is meeting in Cancun, Mexico, to discuss further rationing of goods and services.
Apparently, they've never heard of using Skype for conference calls.
Lord have mercy, it looks like everybody is having a good time !!!

Let me help you with that:

There is ice in your freezer, therefore global warming is a hoax.

Nope.
Bad thinking.

My grandfather smoked three packs a day and died at the age of 91 when he was hit by a bus, therefore smoking doesn't cause cancer.

Nope.
Again, bad thinking.
Statistics.

I went to a restaurant for lunch and saw many customers, therefore the restaurant is not in financial trouble.

Nope.
Bad thinking.
This can lead you to the poorhouse very quicky.

I looked outside my window and saw a dog, therefore outside every window there is a dog.

Same bad thinking as before.
Even if you change the example of the dog to a snowman or just plain snow, it still doesn't work.
It's bad thinking all round.

The way to get out these examples is by correct and honest use of statistics.
Knowledge is power.
Just ask NASA.

Get science information directly from people that do the work themselves and actually know what they are talking about.
All of them.
Don't cherry-pick.

Go to primary sources of information and check out all of them.

Getting your information this way is not some sneaky method of cheating.
It's a good idea that can help anybody understand any science topic at all, not just global warming.

It works beautifully for AIDS, vaccines, Evolution, Tobacco etc.

Steer clear of no-name blogs, newspaper headlines, cable news sound-bites, no-name blogs, mystery "institutes", toilet wall graffitti, no-name blogs, and coffee-table books.

Don't let them pre-digest your science information for you.
Go directly to primary sources.

Focus on the science.
Focus on the work.

Everything else is squirrel.

Was it scheduled to be in Mexico before or after they got snowed out in Copenhagen?
They probably scheduled it in a warm place on purpose so that they would be immune from cold weather embarrassment.

Allen, you're so snide! You ASSUMED they all flew to Cancun. I'm positive most of them rode bicycles, sailed, swam or hiked to Cancun. And then camped vs. using air conditioning and blowing their carbon allowances!

note: my capcha is whitype... a mashup of "whited and type".

Each and every time this happens, you get to re-run the same joke about how such-and-such a science meeting happened while some freak weather was going on.
Lucky you.

It's perfect, really.

You could just create a template and just switch around the locations and the labels, rather than type up a new article each and every time.
In fact, why wait for a specific conference or seminar?
Just dust it off every every winter..or even every time you open the freezer.

"Wow, it's cold in my freezer.
Those dumb scientists."

"Wow, there's snow outside my window at Christmas.
Those dumb scientists."

"Wow, it's snowing in England!
Those dumb scientists."

Would you balance your checkbook or invest in a business or buy shares on the stockmarket using the same screwy logic?

Statistics. Data points. Long-term trends.
Hello?

I'm positive most of them rode bicycles, sailed, swam or hiked to Cancun. And then camped vs. using air conditioning and blowing their carbon allowances

But they didn't...and that's how you can tell that it's all just a gigantic global conspiracy!
They can't fool those in the know.
Obama still gets driven around in a big car.
Gore lives in a big house.
The Pentagon still has big planes and big tanks and big ships.
NASA still launches satellites and uses electricity for their fancy-shmancy computers.
Anyone care to guess how many physicists and chemists and geologists and glaciologists and biologists and atmospheric scientists and fluid dynamicists and oceanographers use hot water every time they take a shower?

(...insert righteous smirk here...)

Irony is so lost on those people.
Clearly, NONE of the politicians believe ANY of the Anthropogenic Global Warming Horsecrap. NONE.
An easy way for them to gain power from the gullible?
You betcha.
The green scam does not apply to them, and it never will.
Good for thee, but not for me.
How much longer are you going to take it?

Study politicians.
See their hypocrisy.
That's how real science is done.
The kind you learned in science class.
The science that Carl Sagan tried to educate the public about.
Right?
