Certitude

From the website of Rep. Anthony Weiner....

“Sadly, the Internet is the predator's venue of choice today.  We need to update our strategies and our laws to stop these offenders who are a mere click away....”

IMAO, the texts and sexts and crotch shots that Anthony Weiner sent to various young ladies are nobody's business but his and the young ladies' and Mrs. Weiner's.

But for this Nanny State Buffoon to call for another 50 pounds of internet regulation and ultra-wholesome Big Brotherism while trolling Twitter for _____  ______??  That's unforgivable.  (I've deleted two different alliterative words in those blanks.)

Anthony Weiner will probably be forced to resign by July, at which point he'll go to work lobbying his friends in Congress for more regulation, more laws, and more handouts.  I can't say this with certitude, but now that he's been taken down several notches, he would probably do less harm as a Congressman than as a lobbyist.

Yeah, this played out in an entirely predictable manner. Sheesh.

Weiner indeed.

In all honesty, I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and reserve judgement until other evidence from other sources came in.
(Photoshop does exist. Hacking accounts is frighteningly easy.)
The big thing that kept playing in my mind was that nobody in such a high-profile public position would voluntarily put stuff like that out there on the internet.

How could anyone not understand in this day and age that it is inevitable that you will be caught? It's a no-brainer.
It's like all those people that forward racist e-mails or post rants on youtube.
People will see it. There's no way around that.
Yet these people cannot seem to exercise discretion.

It's like the wives of rich men who get arrested for shop-lifting. A belief that they will somehow not be found out or that they have a magic cloak of invisibility.

I can understand that people in power will try to do bad things and get away with it but I expect them to at least make an attempt at covering things up.

Has CNN announced the timeslot for Weiner's news/talk show yet?
