That's so bogus. The directions take me all the way up to Puget Sound. Tried it for Japan from Arizona. Worked like a charm.

Sometimes they have you go to Puget Sound, and sometimes you get a layover in Hawaii. I think it has to do with peak travel times, ocean congestion, etc.
