Some Libertarian websites for your consideration

More and more libertarians are going online with their opinions.  Having Statists run the country is probably a factor.
Please consider bookmarking these (relatively new) bloggers.  You will be enlightened and entertained. 

I don't even know where to start with this first character.   As best I can tell, he is Baron Von Liberte on Facebook....

...and he is the proprietor of TheSwash.com - a site dedicated to Swashbuckling, Liberty, and Waffles.  Yes, waffles.  But enough about breakfast foods.  Here's The Baron's take on the recent Stephen Colbert congressional testimony debacle:

Our country is in a shithole right now and we waste time on Stephen Colbert playing fictional Stephen Colbert in front of our real Congress? What’s next? Robert Downey, Jr. playing fictional Tony Stark in front of the Senate debating over who owns his fictional armor? How many tax dollars were wasted on this pointless stunt? What a stupid f***ing move, especially before the midterm elections....

Here's a link to one of The Barron's motivational posters.  NSFW, but my thoughts exactly. 

My next suggestion is a site called Liberty On Tour.

These guys ride around on a bus promoting liberty and freedom.  "Liberty On Tour is a dynamic freedom-oriented project created by two friends, Pete Eyre and Adam Mueller, who are touring 13 cities in 13 weeks in their RV (dubbed MARV) to advance the message of voluntaryism and a free society."

But there's obviously gotta be more to it than that, right? 
Yes. 
Their pet peeve, and they will run into it in almost every city they visit, is law enforcement/code enforcement officers who keep people from feeding the homeless. 
I repeat...there are people out there with the authority to put you in jail if they don't approve of your giving food to street people.  Here's something from a post called Food Not Bombs:

PHOENIX, AZ – This past Sunday (just a couple short hours before Adam was arrested) we joined the good folks associated with Food Not Bombs Las Vegas who were providing food to people in need.

Their group is doing great work. Yet as many of those featured in this video touch on, harassment from the police is common. A Google search of “Food Not Bombs arrest” results in over 500,000 results and in 2006, this particular chapter was targeted by local law enforcement. Its members were issued citations and threatened with arrest simply for feeding the homeless. Fortunately, they teamed up with the ACLU and recently the court ruled in their favor.
Still, even if the court had not sided with them, they are not doing anything wrong. Far from it. They are voluntarily helping those less fortunate. When the State, or more accurately, individuals wearing silly costumes and badges, tell them that they cannot give freely of their property to consenting individuals it violates their rights.
So why the use of aggressive force? It could be a couple of things – State agencies that were created to supposedly help the homeless may feel their legitimacy eroded when people see that they can better help each other directly rather than through inefficient, unaccountable (and immoral) government (for more on this, check out David Beito’s From Mutual Aid to the Welfare State). For the cops, since they claim a monopoly, they simply lack any incentive to have good customer service (their salaries are paid via stolen money) so they seek to maximize the number of arrests and citations issued for those who violate arbitrary man-made legislation for which there is no victim. They are nothing more than revenue generators for the State (for more on this, check out Bruce Benson’s The Enterprise of Law).
Despite these hurdles, the Food Not Bombs folks have kept at it, and they’ve undoubtedly saved lives in the process.

They do good work, those boys at Liberty On Tour.  They're going to stay on the road through the beginning of November.

After reading that poster, I'll never again read the book of Genesis in the same way.

Let me ask you readers has marijuana ever once damaged a life, home, or the environment?

Beyond the fact that ,like a gun, marijuana is inanimate and thus can do nothing good or evil the only thing that has ever damaged the lives,homes, and environment in this issue is prohibition enforced by the police.
 
Police raid homes,murder innocent people,and burn down massive fields every year and yet according to Jenny Durkan Marc is the one to blame, not them. Was he really the one that caused all that suffering?

The really long answer is "no". 

The next two are Aggregator sites.  These folks tirelessly search The Web for liberty-oriented stories so you don't have to. 
The first is a site called Hammer Of Truth.   Stephen Van Duke typically posts about a dozen links per day and provides commentary on at least one of them. 

Go here for a first-class rant about whether it should be legal for our government to tag you like a Ducks Unlimited experiment in wildlife migration. 

Last is NewsAlert.  I think this guy has been around for a while, but I only found him sometime in the last 6 months.  Gaze upon his blogroll and despair, O Ye Mortals !  Wow. 
Steve Bartin provides tons of links to the liberty-loving masses, and now has almost two million hits to show for it.  I wish he would write more of his own stuff, because his comic asides are usually great.

I have blogger friends who occasionally claim that they don't have anything to write about. I repeat....I have blogger friends who claim that they don't have anything to write about.

We've been dumped into the middle of the most amazing, hog-stomping, buck-raking, fleece The Sheeple circus anyone could hope for. Anyone that who can type should get out of bed in the morning thanking god for the chance to be alive in the year of our Lord 2009.

Here's everything I'd be ranting about at great length today if I had more time to do so.....

The Netroots folks who put the Democrats in charge of the House, the Senate, and The White House have been strangely silent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. What happened to THE FIERCE MORAL URGENCY OF NOW that we heard so much about until January? Write a post about how and where THE FIERCE MORAL URGENCY was lost, and the efforts of the White House janitorial and landscaping staff to find it. Photoshop a milk carton to show TFMU as a missing person.

Roger Kimball has latched onto the Yale University Press decision to censor the book about the censorying of the Danish cartoons of Muhammed. The plot is thickening. The book had already been vetted by Yale's legal staff, and some Islamic scholars had already approved of the book and its contents. But Yale has some financial relationships with some nasty places in the Middle East. Ye shall know the Veritas....

Ron Paul wants to audit The Fed. Copy the entire editorial onto this site. No snarky comments allowed.

George Will thinks the people who run the United States Lottery programs have no business moralizing about online poker. Write a post about the people who subsidize the lottery, vs the people who would contribute towards online poker. Or, God help us all, blackjack.

Charles Krauthammer takes up the idea that government involvement in health care would save money. He has a good time with it. But not as much fun as I would have, bringing up defense contractors, $800 screwdrivers, $5,000 toilet seats, the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, VA Hospitals, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, the Post Office, and every other government money pit.

Little Green Footballs 2.0 has a funny picture of Obama as The Joker as a Doctor. Follow up with this gem where they're saying that if you don't think the Obama/Joker posters are racist, you're a racist. Print it as is, but delete the text. Ask for captions.

It seems that people aren't dressing properly when they approach the thrones of their lords and masters at the Healthcare Town Hall meetings. How dare the serfs wear a ballcap while addressing a U.S. senator? Go Medieval. Explain for the 10,000th time that these are not our leaders. They are our employees. In a truly just society, electing a president or a senator would be like deciding whether to keep the old lawn service or hire a new one.

Professor Bainbridge contrasts the Healthcare Town Hall crazies with previous crazies. Compare all of these groups to Martin Luther and the church door, various clerics who waited three days barefoot in the snow to see the pope, Buddhists igniting themselves during the Viet Nam war, and every other performance art protest. Sometimes a letter to the editor isn't enough.

The right-wing Christian Broadcasting Network does damage control for C Street, explaining that the real question isn't, how many affairs were covered up, but rather, "how many affairs were thwarted." These are the guys that Nevada's John Ensign, Mississippi's Chip Pickering, and South Carolina's Mark Sanford have been hanging out with. Quietly and calmly ask why The Family has a tax-exempt status, when all they do is lobby congressmen and senators. And provide meetup places for their administrative staff.

Send people HERE. Warn them that they will wander around in there for days.

Valarie Jarrett, one of Obama's spokesmuppets, was recently booed and hissed at a Netroots Nation conference. The Netroots people aren't happy that Obama has kept almost EVERY objectionable George W. Bush war policy and program in place. Write a breathless expose which proves that Obama is merely a front for Karl Rove. Dick Cheney is the guy who programs Obama's Teleprompter.

Fighting In The Shade, Leonidas, and Libertarians

Note to all varieties of libertarians:

I met an interesting guy, also named Allen, at the Blodgmeet last weekend. All I knew about Allen was that he was retired and his wife was from Scandinavia. They have a boat. He spells his name properly, with two "L's" and an "E". He doesn't talk much, but when he does, it's worth listening to.

For some reason, I never got around to reading or linking his website until he left a comment on mine.

Helen and Richard at The EU Referendum have an insanely popular site devoted to the general goofiness associated with the European Union. You can spend days in there, reading Comment Threads, following links, and learning the cast of characters who now make up European government.

It's almost enough to make you grateful for Nancy Pelosi.

My favorite post is one that Dr. (they all have doctorates) Richard did on a missing 900,000 tons of government subsidized Italian tobacco. Ghost tobacco, they're calling it. He asks my usual question....Why in the world do we subsidize the stuff when we spend an equal amount encouraging people not to use the stuff?

We get into a similar embarrasment when we continue paying dead farmers not to farm. Are the dead any worse at not farming? What disqualifies them from participating in the program?

It's called Anarchic Hand Syndrome.

First runner-up goes to this one, about the disastrous consequences of using Food for Fuel in an effort to appear "Greener Than Thou".

Dr. Richard is also co-author of "Scared To Death", a book about Global Warming, Y2K, Bird Flu, Second-hand smoke, and other boogeymen. I've been looking for it for almost a year, but it's only published in England.

Then there's the Nation Of Shopkeepers blog. (Hitler derisively referred to Britain as "a nation of shopkeepers.) Where to begin, where to begin.....

There's this one, where he vents his frustration over the term "relative poverty". I have many of the same frustrations, but have never thought to combine Marxist terminology with old episodes of The Simpsons.
