From David Plouffe: HAVE YOU SEEN THIS ?

President Obama can't seem to get out of campaign mode.  His campaign manager sent me the following email this morning, with the subject line HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?

Dear Whited --

Wondering what the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act -- President Obama's stimulus bill -- has accomplished? Look at this:

One year ago tomorrow, after tens of thousands of you shared stories and called your representatives, the President signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

And while this anniversary isn't a cause for celebration, there is reason to be optimistic. This chart makes it clear: We're on the road to recovery.

Still, we know there is a long way to go. Many Americans are still struggling, and creating jobs remains President Obama's top priority.

Thanks for making change happen,

David Plouffe

Here's an appropriate reply:

Dear David,
Thanks for your timely email, as I would love to hire one more driver, but am concerned about what insane stunt you people are going to pull next.
And by the way, HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?
Note how the numbers on this chart are large enough to be read without 300X reading glasses.  It's how people design charts when they aren't trying to be deceptive.  Take notes.

Your Chicago gang is going to try to back the getaway car up to the Treasury one last time before the November elections, but people are catching on.  Try to find another war, another climate crisis, or some other demon to do battle against.  Or better yet, stay home and enjoy the loot you've raked in so far.

Thanks for the email,

Whited

Hey, Dummy.

Are you blaming Obama from inheriting a $1.7 trillion deficit?

Explain that to me logically.

What should he have done? Cut 40% of government spending? Raise taxes by $1.7 trillion?

SHF,
No, I blame the drunken orgy of spending for the last 40 years for the 1.7 trillion dollar deficit.

The solution for not creating more 1.7 trillion dollar deficits? Don't create any more of them. Don't create 8 more years of deficits that are greater than the deficits of the previous 200 years combined.

That would be a nice start, if you would like to have it explained "logically".

As far as cutting 40% of government spending goes, that would be a nice start, but it would be inadequate. I'd like to see someone cut it by 40% immediately, and then get it down to 70% of the current levels over the next decade.

No more foreign adventures, just guard the borders. No more locking up people for possessing weed (we have 5% of the world's population and almost 25% of the prisoners). Slowly phase out government schools. $11,000 per year will get you an education at one hell of a private academy. Deregulate medical care. Shut down the Department Of Energy. Drill, baby, drill. Eliminate all subsidies, eliminate all import quotas. That alone will increase household incomes by $4,000 to $11,000 (depending on if you ask a lefty or a righty economist).

As far as taxes go, unfortunately, they need to be raised, and raised instantly, with a caveat that they'll be lowered when we've cut our debt in half. And EVERYBODY, even homeless winos, should be required to pay at least $20.00 per year. In the present system, too many of us are getting something for nothing. Washington just prints enough money to cover the deficits (to a point), and Steve Hunt fans are too dense to detect what's going on.

Logical enough? I think so.

Is there any other way to get out of the hole we're in?
Nope.

Will they ever do any of this until we're gaced with total disaster? Nope.
