First, they came for the KVWN-TV Channel 4 Action News Team

First, they came for the KVWN-TV Channel 4 Action News Team, but I did not speak out, because I was not on Ron Burgundy's KVWN-TV Channel 4 Action News Team.

Then they came for Tim Robbins' Channel 2 Action News Team, but I did not speak out, because I was not on Tim Robbins' Channel 2 Action News Team.

And then they came for me.....Well, not really.  I just love using that "First they came for the blah blah blah's" quote any time the Statists start another witch hunt.

Here's The Daily Caller, on an attempted purge of "Deniers" (also known as people who own a thermometer and know how to use it) in the weather forecasting industry.
Concerned that too many “deniers” are in the meteorology business, global warming activists this month launched a campaign to recruit local weathermen to hop aboard the alarmism bandwagon and expose those who are not fully convinced that the world is facing man-made doom.

The Forecast the Facts campaign — led by 350.org, the League of Conservation Voters and the Citizen Engagement Lab — is pushing for more of a focus on global warming in weather forecasts, and is highlighting the many meteorologists who do not share their beliefs.

“Our goal is nothing short of changing how the entire profession of meteorology tackles the issue of climate change,” the group explains on their website. “We’ll empower everyday people to make sure meteorologists understand that their viewers are counting on them to get this story right, and that those who continue to shirk their professional responsibility will be held accountable.”

According to the Washington Post, the reason for the campaign can be found in a 2010 George Mason University surveys, which found that 63% of television weathermen think that global warming is a product of natural causes, while 31% believe it is from human activity.

So far, the campaign has identified 55 “deniers” in the meteorologist community and are looking for more. They define “deniers” as “anyone who expressly refutes the overwhelming scientific consensus about climate change: that it is real, largely caused by humans, and already having profound impacts on our world.”

An Inconvenient Cooling

I've sworn off of this topic dozens of times, but in the words of Al Pacino in that 2nd Godfather movie, JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS OUT....THEY PULL ME BACK IN.

Here's something from The Mail (UK)(I apologize in advance for illustrating this piece with Global Cooling Panic magazine covers from the 1970's.)

The supposed ‘consensus’ on man-made global warming is facing an inconvenient challenge after the release of new temperature data showing the planet has not warmed for the past 15 years.

The figures suggest that we could even be heading for a mini ice age to rival the 70-year temperature drop that saw frost fairs held on the Thames in the 17th Century.

Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997.

Meanwhile, leading climate scientists yesterday told The Mail on Sunday that, after emitting unusually high levels of energy throughout the 20th Century, the sun is now heading towards a ‘grand minimum’ in its output, threatening cold summers, bitter winters and a shortening of the season available for growing food.

Solar output goes through 11-year cycles, with high numbers of sunspots seen at their peak.

We are now at what should be the peak of what scientists call ‘Cycle 24’ – which is why last week’s solar storm resulted in sightings of the aurora borealis further south than usual. But sunspot numbers are running at less than half those seen during cycle peaks in the 20th Century.

Analysis by experts at NASA and the University of Arizona – derived from magnetic-field measurements 120,000 miles beneath the sun’s surface – suggest that Cycle 25, whose peak is due in 2022, will be a great deal weaker still.

We must fight this.  Let's put a subsidy on Hummers and SUV's and a hellish tax on electric cars.

Or maybe we should simply go back to calling it "weather" and admit that Al Gore, The U.N., the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit, and NASA have no idea what future weather is going to be like, and that attempts to change the weather are pointless, but profitable for insiders.

Al Gore, Gaming For Good, and a game suggestion for Climategate fans

From some random radio station's website:

Former Presidential candidate Al Gore is known for everything from inventing the Internet to alerting the world to the harsh realities (sic) of global warming. Now he’s collaborating with the creatives of PSFK on "Gaming For Good", challenging companies to create new games that address the same issues facing his Climate Reality Project – and also being fun to play.

After receiving 60 game proposals from around the world, the entries have been narrowed down to the 10 top finalists, which was then whittled down to four by Gore himself. Among the finalists are Greensquare, “a gaming platform that gives you and your friends a new, greener way to explore local retail stores, restaurants and businesses”. Gore was particularly taken with REALiTREE, “a digital representation of our local environment and the role we are playing in sustaining its wellbeing.”

You can go here to see some screen shots from a few of the games, most of which make me want to purchase and drive a new gas-guzzling Ford F-350 for the sole purpose of driving it from Fort Worth to Dallas to purchase a cheeseburger made from Polar Bear flesh.  Lord have mercy, what a bunch of sanctimonious crap.

This one - Reality Drop - got my attention.  It was developed by an outfit called Arnold Worldwide.
Climate change deniers show up anywhere. Finding them and fighting them requires easy access to complex arguments. This site makes it simple to spread science and destroy doubt. Climate news is prioritized by ‘heat:’ hostility, reach, sentiment and timeliness. Players can earn points by grabbing related scientific articles, videos, and data points, and pasting them into hot articles to blast climate denial into oblivion.

That sounds boring as hell.  I have a few twists to make the Reality Drop game more interesting.

Make it into a board game like the one shown above.

Then add some more media.  Here goes....

Someone named Tom Nelson has been slogging through the latest batch of ClimateGate emails (the treasure trove of embarrassing correspondence between the East Anglia University scientists who are doing their best to prove that the planet is warming and that it is all your fault.)

Mr. Nelson has provided us with links to 250 of the most interesting, horrible, criminal, fraudulent, and in a few cases, pretty damn funny of the bunch.  Let's tie these in to Mr. Gore's game.

Here are the improved rules for "Reality Drop" the game for the whole family !!!!

The goal of "Reality Drop" is to move your token from "Gullible" to "Dumbass" to "Sheep" to "Victim" before any of the other players.

Hit one of Tom Nelson's links below and read a Climategate email to all the other players.

Any player who can still claim that Anthropogenic Global Warming is not a con job gets to move his token one step closer to the goal of "Victim".

Younger children may need help with the concepts of "Lying", "Subsidies", "Grants", "Bullshit" and "Fraud".

Here are the emails that will give you and your family hours and hours of Climate Change enjoyment !!!!  Have fun, gang !!!
For players who intend to play this game for the rest of their lives, the ClimateGate search engines are located here and here.

And for more pure, undiluted greatness, you can go here: All in one place, all ClimateGate I and II files, along with source code files, HARRY_READ_ME files, email attachments, documents, etc.

We can only hope that the generous hackers who gave us Climategate I and Climategate II will drop another batch of emails into our laps before the current goldmine of gaming material is exhausted.

Picture of the northern hemisphere

Here's what happens if you leave your truck door open in Chicago:

Lordy, it's cold.
My employer built the ESPN booth that they're doing pre-Super Bowl broadcasts from in Downtown Fort Worth.  Will post pics soon, if it ever warms up enough for them to really use it !

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen express their concern for the planet

Here's a 30-second video of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady asking us to turn off all our lights for Earth Hour

Brady's wife, ultra-super-duper-model Gisele Bundchen, has been named the U.N.'s "environmental ambassador" because of her willingness to make environmentally-correct noises whenever someone pulls the string in the back of her neck.  Here's a sample quote:

On climate change, Gisele noted, "Climate change is something we can't deny? It affects all of us. At the end of the day, it's our planet ? we all have to feel accountable."

Here's a picture of the new Brady/Bundchen home. Lord have mercy.

All Prius-driving, toilet paper-recycling, cow fart-suppressing Disciples Of The Cult Of Gore just had their efforts negated.
This monster has 20,000 square feet of space, with an elevator and a freakin' lagoon.  It has a SIX CAR GARAGE.

The new Brady/Bunchen Carbon Blaster is even worse than Al Gore's house.

It's not quite as bad as Thomas Friedman's house

But it is incredible.
I'll believe that we have an environmental crisis when all the Global Warming spokesmodels start living like it is a crisis.

Just how hard is it to go outside and read a thermometer every day ?

RFK Jr. has described James Hansen of NASA's Goddard Institute For Space Studies as The Paul Revere of Climate Change.  (The glaciers are melting !  The oceans are rising !  The thermometers are bursting !)
Hansen has a new book out called "Storms Of My Grandchildren", which I skimmed during my lunch yesterday.  In short, the earth is warming, the glaciers are melting, the seas are rising, and that's your fault.  Therefore, you should give Hansen and his friends a lot of money.  Grants, funding, subsidies, the works.

You may have heard of the problems with the datasets at East Anglia University's Climate Research Unit.  Thanks to some hackers, we have evidence that the CRU cooked the books a bit, mostly to improve the infamous "hockey stick" and to eliminate the inconvenient warming period that popped up during the Middle Ages.
Thank God we have an independent data set at NASA, right?

Well, no.  Hit that link.  Go on, hit itRead it.  Giggle.

Damn those Inconvenient Truths.

The Truth will out....but sometimes too late

From The Daily Mail (U.K., of course):

Head of 'Climategate' research unit admits sending 'pretty awful emails' to hide data

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1254660/Climategate-professor-Phil-Jones-admits-sending-pretty-awful-emails.html#ixzz0h1gyCuX1

Scientists at the heart of the Climategate row were yesterday accused by a leading academic body of undermining science's credibility.

The Institute of Physics said 'worrying implications' had been raised after it was revealed the University of East Anglia had manipulated data on global warming....

....The Climategate row, which was first revealed by the Daily Mail in November, was triggered when a hacker stole hundreds of emails sent from East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit.

They revealed scientists plotting how to avoid responding to Freedom of Information requests from climate change sceptics.
Some even appeared to show the researchers discussing how to manipulate raw data from tree rings about historical temperatures.
In one, Professor Jones talks about using a 'trick' to massage figures and 'hide the decline'.

Also from The Daily Mail:

Baby girl survives after being shot in the chest in parents' 'global warming suicide pact'

A seven-month-old baby girl survived three days alone with a bullet in her chest beside the bodies of her parents and toddler brother.

Argentines Francisco Lotero, 56, and Miriam Coletti, 23, shot their children before killing themselves after making an apparent suicide pact over fears about global warming.

Their son Francisco, two, died instantly after being hit in the back.
But their unnamed daughter cheated death after the bullet from her dad's handgun missed her vital organs....

....Her parents said they feared the effects of global warming in a suicide note discovered by police.

NASA. Climategate. Freedom Of Information Act Requests. Disappearing Data. Thermometers. Dogs. Homework.

In which NASA just wishes the dog ate their homework.
Go here.

These guys almost implemented the biggest regulatory intervention in the history of our galaxy, and it's all crumbling.
Within 5 years, the complete story will come out. No one will go to jail and no one will lose his job.  Because, you see, their intentions were so good and wholesome.

In related news, go here for a list of some of the major corporations who were going to discourage competitors by helping to implement the Cap And Trade system.  They're not so excited about it any longer.

And you can go here to learn why the Environmental Protection Agency's Lisa Jackson, should have someone following her around wiping drool and slobber off her chin.  (Jackson is the EPA head who recently declared carbon dioxide a pollutant, in yet another attempt to take over manufacturing, agriculture and trucking.)
.....It makes no sense to set ambient air quality standards for greenhouse gases. There is simply no way for state and local regulators to ensure that individual cities, or even larger regions, meet an air quality standard for a globally dispersed atmospheric pollutant. Local emissions could be reduced to zero, and a given area would still violate the standards if global emissions did not decline. It would be a pointless regulatory exercise.

That's the end of this evening's cynicism about people trying to make money from the weather, a topic that I've sworn off writing about.  Hope you enjoy and benefit from the links.
The picture of the dog who didn't eat anybody's homework came from the Talk With The Preacher blog, something that everyone involved in this scam needs to consider.
