Beaten for driving while diabetic

Here's a video of some government employees beating the crap out of a guy who is in a diabetic coma.  They think he's drunk.
It's featured in the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The victim got $250,000 in restitution from....you.  The cops involved walked away fat and happy, of course.

Go here to read the Vegas Review-Journal account of the mess.
Go here to read Radley Balko's commentary on the incident, posted under the line of police dialogue "Stop resisisting, Motherf***er", and also includes the following observations:

•This certainly isn’t the first time cops have mistaken diabetic shock for intoxication—and with similar results. We’ve also seen a number of incidents where cops have mistaken epileptic seizures for aggressive behavior, often resulting in a Tasering. The root problem here is the same as that with the cops who mistakenly mistake a bounding or territorial dog with an aggressive one, and then kill it. The cops get excused because they made “honest mistakes.” (Though in this case, the honest mistake ended with mistaking low blood sugar for intoxication.) But that means they haven’t been trained properly. At some point, enough of these stories should have made the news that departments across the country would begin to implement such training. That doesn’t appear to be happening.

•Note that at one point in the video, after they’ve just beaten a helpless man, one cop asks his fellow officers if any of them are hurt.

•Not only were none of these cops criminally charged, every one of them is apparently still protecting and serving the public. The story indicates one seargeant was “disciplined,” but we aren’t allowed to know what that discipline was. The department also claims to have changed some policies in response to the incident. But we aren’t allowed to know exactly what those changes are, either.

•We also aren’t allowed to know the names of any of the officers in the video. This is inexcusable. It seems pretty clear that there’s a culture problem, here. Mistaking a diabetic for a drunk is bad enough. Beating him senseless when he clearly posed no threat is criminal. And yelling “Stop Resisting!” at a man who is clearly not resisting is indicative of a police culture in which excessive force is common enough that the officers know what to say as they’re beating someone to give them cover later. Laughing after you’ve just beaten a man, and after you’ve just discovered he was a diabetic is straight-up pathological. All of which means there’s plenty of reason to doubt this particular department’s internal review process. These officers names need to be released, so journalists and police watchdog groups outside of law enforcement can look into their histories on the job.

•Greene and his family were given a $292,500 settlement, which of course will be funded by taxpayers, not the cops who beat him senseless. This too needs to change. The cops who beat green should be forfeiting a portion of their paychecks to him for the rest of their lives. And those paychecks should preferably be compensation for work other than police work.

What if Blockbuster Video or Barnes & Noble were run by the government?

Go here for an interesting tale from The Libertarian Book Club (of Canada, thank God).

The Dollarhite family of Dixa Missouri fined $90,000 for failure to "negotiate" with Rabbit Police

A Missouri family has been fined $90,000.00 for failing to "negotiate" with a government Kickback Artist bureaucrat.
It has something to do with raising rabbits.
But before we get into the story, please allow me to pull one paragraph out of context for those who have ever had to deal with city building inspectors, electrical inspectors, plumbing inspectors, and their ilk.  All of you will instantly know what's going on here.  Here goes....

In fact, there are no actual written USDA standards for what constitutes proper care of a rabbit by a wholesale breeder of pet animals, Sacks said. Instead, the process is a “negotiation” between a USDA official and a breeder when they apply for a license.

Ok, if you just read the word "negotiation" and didn't think "kickback", you're not spending enough time in the real world.
Here's the rest of the story.  Hit this link to read the rest.

It started out as a hobby, a way for the Dollarhite family in Dixa, Mo., to teach a teenage son responsibility. Like a lemonade stand.

But now, selling a few hundred rabbits over two years has provoked the heavy hand of the federal government to the tune of a $90,643 fine. The fine was levied more than a year after authorities contacted family members, prompting them to immediately halt their part-time business and liquidate their equipment.

The Dollarhite’s story, originally picked up by local Missouri blogger Bob McCarthy, has turned into a call to arms for critics of the government’s reach and now has both Democratic and Republican lawmakers vowing to intervene.

The Global Warming Cult has plans for those who will not submit to The New World Order

If you don't cut your carbon emissions by 10%, the followers of Saint Albert, The Goracle Of Music City, are going to splatter your guts all over the office.
There's going to be nothing left of you but a greasy spot.

That's the message of this video, and it is not a parody.  It's a fantasy.
What you're about to see was produced by a group called 10:10, who want everyone to reduce their carbon emissions by 10%.  Or else.
There's a link at the bottom of this post where you can read 10:10's apology to the environmental movement for pulling back the curtain too far.  Hell, we've now seen behind the curtain, the man behind the curtain, his underwear, his hernia scar, and that tattoo he got during that wild trip to New Orleans.
Goodgodalmighty, they should also apologize to their mothers, their children, and everyone who knows them.

Don't they know that in the last century, governments killed 200 million of their own citizens?

Here's Ed Morrissey on what you're about to see:

What makes this fascinating is that the people who produce this dreck have no clue as to just how far removed they have become from normal human sensibilities, or at least they didn’t until the video began provoking the fully-predictable reaction. They have become so wrapped up in Gaia that they seem to have little connection to humanity.

(Go here if you want to learn more about the mindset of the lady with the sign.  It's a subject for another day.)

The most alarming part of the video?  To me it is when the office workers slowly start raising their hands, looking around to see if everyone else is raising theirs.  They look like they don't agree with what is being asked of them, but they are afraid to express anything except mindless conformity.

Otherwise, you see, the nice man might hit his red button.  Get in line, you mindless sheep.  Start goose-stepping.  You see, there's No Pressure.

Ok, enough ranting.  Here's the video.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday.  I'm going to dispatch 6 semi-tractor drivers and have them ride around Fort Worth all day, just for the hell of it.
I'm turning on every light in the damn house.
The contents of my city-mandated recycling bin are going into the regular garbage.
I'm breaking every CFL ObamaBulb I can find, and dumping the mercury into the sewers.
In a few minutes, people in Abbot, Texas, will be able to hear Lynyrd Skynyrd's One More From The Road blasting forth from my stereo, Limey Nanny-Staters with red buttons be damned.

Go here to read an apology from the producers of this mess.
Go here to see Audi's "Green Police" ad, just in case you've forgotten about it.  You see, this was not a fluke.  The authoritarians among us really do believe that this imagery is appealing.

Elizabeth ! Warren ! ! !

Brent Budowsky of The Hill can barely contain himself, and for good reason.  You see, there is a chance that Barack Obama will nominate....Elizabeth! Warren !!  to something or another.

Within hours and possibly minutes I expect the president will name Elizabeth Warren to lead the new consumer protection agency, and if he does, the Democratic base will erupt and turn out to vote in far greater numbers than any current poll suggests.

Good God in heaven, how can you people even think of sleeping during a moment like this ????  Elizabeth ! Warren ! !

I could be wrong; Obama might give up at the last minute, which would be the last betrayal of the Democratic base and very possibly the death knell of the Democratic House of Representatives. But if he names Warren, the pundits be will amazed, astonished and flabbergasted by the lift this would give to the Democratic base and by the voter turnout that would follow.

Think of it, folks !   Roust yourselves from your slumbers ! ! !  Elizabeth ! Warren !!,  the Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard Law School -- where she teaches contract law, bankruptcy, and commercial law -- and has devoted much of the past three decades to studying the economics of middle class families ! ! !  I don't mean to cuss because my mama and my Aunt Gwen both read this website sometimes, but HOLY SHIT ! !   There is a chance that Obama is going to nominate Elizabeth !  Warren !!

If Obama names Warren, consumers would have the strongest possible friend fighting for them all day, every day, at a time of major consumer rip-offs and disastrous consumer confidence that would be lifted with the Warren selection.

Think of it....you're shopping for something, something like Dill Pickles.  You reach for a jar, but then you think "Am I about to get ripped off?  Am I confident enough, as a consumer, to buy these Pickles?  Do I have someone in my corner if this all goes terribly, horribly wrong?"
You almost put the jar back on the shelf.  But then you remember that Barack Obama has nominated, yea, verily, he has appointed Elizabeth ! Warren !! to the new consumer protection agency.  And she is there for you, Thanks Be To God.
What do you do next?  I mean, what do you do after you decide to vote, then revitalize the Democrat party, give hope to millions and preserve the Obama presidency?  What do you do next?  Do you even have to f***ing ask???
Why, you buy the damn pickles ! ! !
Elizabeth !  Warren ! !

If Obama names Warren, veterans and military families who have endured rip-offs and abuses would have the strongest possible friend with Elizabeth Warren.

Elizabeth !  Warren ! !  She's not just For The Children ® , she would also be For The Troops ® ! !

If Obama names Warren, small business would have the strongest possible ally as she champions fair treatment by small business that has been a piñata being abused by large financial institutions.

That sentence is so screwed up, especially considering that it's from a major website.  I think Brent meant to say "of small business", and the phrase "that has been" is meant to describe the treatment, and not the businesses.
But who am I to pick grammatical nits at a time like this, at a time when our President, when our President, Mr. Barack H. Obama, when President Obama nominated Hillary R. Clinton as Secretary of State, well, he was just warming up and clearing his throat.
Hillary was nothing.
Elizabeth !  Warren  ! !  She might be willing to serve !  WE ARE NOT WORTHY ! !
And there are people on this earth who still claim that there is no God.

If Obama names Warren, the momentum in the campaign would shift powerfully and immediately, with a rejuvenated Democratic base excited and fighting trim, ready to roll, ready to fight, ready to erupt with support that the selection of Warren would inspire.

I apologize for that gap in the blog.  I just discovered that I had wet myself thinking of the possibilities, just dreaming of the Democratic base, rolling out of their Volvos and Priuses, ready to roll, ready to erupt and fight for Elizabeth !  Warren !!

Warren should be nominated through a recess appointment, not a nomination that would bring a unified Republican filibuster in the tired Kabuki dance that the American people, and the progressive base, have suffered from for far too long.

Absolutely F'ing-A Right you are, buddy !  Elizabeth deserves better than a Kabuki dance.  A coronation is in order.  Did people "vote" for Martin Luther King ?  Heck no.  How about Napoleon?  I don't think so.  Did directors make Richard Burton or Laurence Olivier "read" for roles in movies?  Hell no.  The roles were declared to be filled as soon as Burton or Olivier said they were willing to fill them.
Elizabeth Warren is the author of The Two-Income Trap: Why Middle-Class Mothers and Fathers Are Going Broke (Basic, 2003) (ISBN 0-465-09082-6).  Why would we even think of putting this to a vote?
Elizabeth !  Warren !!

The Democratic base is dispirited and tired, but the Warren nomination would rally them beyond the imagination of the most cynical pundits and politicians.

Absolutely !  Just think of how they rallied for....
Barack !  Obama !!

This campaign is in the ninth inning, the bases are loaded, and if the president hits the ball out of the park and names Elizabeth Warren....

I hate to point this out, but we've all seen our President in his Mom jeans on a baseball field.  The president does NOT come up to the plate when it's in the ninth inning and the bases are loaded.  Not when your pinch hitter is....
Elizabeth !  Warren !!

....it will be the single most powerful inflection point in many months, to the Democrats' advantage, and change the campaign of 2010 to a rousing fight to the finish that could well save the Democratic House of Representatives.

That's all that Brent Budowsky had to say.  For those who can handle the sheer erotic overload, you can click here to see pictures of Elizabeth !  Warren !!   Some are casual, some are formal, and some actually show her on the job, teaching at Harvard !  God, I love the internet ! ! !
I'll leave you with this picture that I found at the link above.  Barack Obama, sleep lightly.  She might be coming for you.

Elizabeth !  Warren !!

Why we need SWAT teams:

From the Nevada Union:

At 12:32 p.m., a caller from West McKnight Way reported steroid-using body-builders from Reno had beaten up the caller's son and might have killed him.

Midgets from Fulton Avenue had been following and trying to poison the caller. The body-builder and the lead female midget, who the caller reported as being “really violent,” allegedly had been driving the caller's truck. The caller wanted the Nevada County Sheriff's Office to activate the SWAT team.

Praying for Obama to die

Remember Stuart Shepard, The Focus On The Family broadcaster who asked for all God fearing Americans to pray for rain in Denver on the night of Obama's nomination?

Well Stuart, the Southern Baptists have seen your rain prayer, raised it, and and gone all in. A former "Second Vice President" of the Southern Baptist Convention has made the news. And it ain't good.

It's now time to introduce "imprecatory prayer".

This is from Bob Allen, with the Associated Baptist Press.
(For the uninitiated, The Associated Baptist Press is the media wing of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, a group that grew weary of Disney Boycotts, 2nd class status for women, etc.)

NEW YORK (ABP) -- A former Southern Baptist Convention officer who on June 2 called the death of abortion provider George Tiller an answer to prayer said later in the day he is also praying "imprecatory prayer" against President Obama.

You can look to Psalm 35 for a Biblical example of imprecatory prayer. In this psalm, King David was surrounded by enemies, and called down all sorts of bad mojo on them. This is the best verse by verse commentary I could find on short notice. In the Obama example, if you still don't understand...someone is asking God to cause Barack Obama to die.

Wiley Drake, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, Calif., and former running mate of American Independent Party presidential candidate Alan Keyes, said June 2 on Fox News Radio he didn't understand why people were upset with his comments quoted by Associated Baptist Press from a webcast of his daily radio talk show.
"Imprecatory prayer is agreeing with God, and if people don't like that, they need to talk to God," Drake told syndicated talk-show host Alan Colmes. "God said it, I didn't. I was just agreeing with God."

Dang it, God talks to Alan Keyes, Moses, Oral Roberts, abortionist killers and street people all day, every day. But does he ever talk to the guy who is trying to find the cure for cancer?

Asked if there are others for whom Drake is praying "imprecatory prayer," Drake hesitated before answering that there are several. "The usurper that is in the White House is one, B. Hussein Obama," he said.
Later in the interview, Colmes returned to Drake's answer to make sure he heard him right.
"Are you praying for his death?" Colmes asked.
"Yes," Drake replied.
"So you're praying for the death of the president of the United States?"
"Yes."

There really isn't much to say, is there? I've said some harsh things about the Obamessiah on this site, and will continue to do so. I think Obama's policies are misguided, and I think they'll be disastrous for the country. But I don't want the man to die. Heck, he's got a wife and two kids. And do you know who gets the job if Obama goes to be with the Lord? I'm considering going into the back yard to organize a counter-strike prayer service.

But how can anyone calling himself a Follower Of Christ pray for the death of Barack Obama? Well, Reverend Drake has probably read a lot of Old Testament, some of Saint Paul's nastier letters, and perhaps The Book Of Revelation. That would do it. Never mind.

Colmes asked Drake if he was concerned that by saying that he might be placed on a Secret Service or FBI watch list, and if he believed it appropriate to talk or pray that way.
"I think it's appropriate to pray the Word of God," Drake said. "I'm not saying anything. What I am doing is repeating what God is saying, and if that puts me on somebody's list, then I'll just have to be on their list."
"You would like for the president of the United States to die?" Colmes asked once more.
"If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around, I am asking God to enforce imprecatory prayers that are throughout the Scripture that would cause him death, that's correct."
Most of the half-hour interview on "The Alan Colmes Show" is premium programming available by paid subscription, but a five-minute clip appeared as a "top video" on the Fox News Radio website.

Drake said he didn't pray for Tiller to be murdered -- only that God would take his life by some method -- but that he "absolutely" believed that God wanted the doctor dead.
"I believe the whole Bible, Alan," he explained. "I don't just preach part of it. I don't just preach the soft, fuzzy, warm stuff where we're supposed to be nice to everybody. I preach the whole Bible."

Baloney. I bet Reverend Wiley Drake owns and wears clothing made from mixed fabrics. I bet he's gone years without preaching against eating shrimp and crabs. I bet he's never prayed an imprecatory prayer when someone collected firewood on the Sabbath.

Part of the Bible, Drake claimed, is imprecatory prayer -- words of judgment in the Psalms prayed back to God -- a practice he said the church has lost.
Drake fielded calls from a few listeners, including one identifying himself as a lifelong Southern Baptist who said he was saddened to hear a minister would pray for someone to die.

I've never heard a minister pray something like this, but I've heard a minister admit doing it. I used to be a part time music minister in some small Southern Baptist churches. In one of them, three large families were giving the preacher hell over I don't remember what all. The minister was a nice enough guy, but he told me that he had prayed for God to do something harmful to those families and was comforted when one of their kids had a minor motorcyle wreck. True story.

"This whole concept that we're always to pray little, nice, soft, fluffy, prayers -- that we're not to pray imprecatory prayer -- has been something that just, in all honesty, that Southern Baptists have lost, and we need to regain imprecatory prayer," Drake said. "It is in the Bible, and we are proud to say as Southern Baptists that we believe the Book. You've got to believe the whole Book, brother, or you don't believe any of it."

Let's bring back Infant Damnation while we're at it. And "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live". And it might be nice to raid the Canaanites and take some of their women. And daughters.

Asked if he thinks there might be other people praying imprecatory prayers for him that might be successful, Drake said, "Well, that's certainly possible, but that's in God's hands, not in mine."
Asked if he claimed to know God's will, Drake replied: "In some cases I do. Not in all cases. I know this, that if I do die right now, I'll go to heaven when I die because I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. That's why I'll go to heaven and not to hell. And the reason George Tiller went to hell when he died was not because he killed babies, as terrible as that was.

Brother Drake, let me remind you that George Tiller was acting as an usher at a Lutheran church when he was shot. I know, I know, the Lutherans drink beer. Their preachers wear funny robes. Baptists make fun of them as God's Frozen Chosen. But I don't think they'll be excluded from heaven, if there is one.

"If he went to hell, and I think he did -- that's God's judgment and not mine -- but if he did go to hell it's because he did not accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior."
Drake said he did not believe Tiller's accused killer is a pro-life Christian.
"I'm of the opinion -- and now everybody's going to say 'There goes Wiley down the conspiracy-theory road,' I'm of the opinion that somebody in the Obama camp had this guy killed."

O for the love of God. Gag me with a dirty diaper.

"Who benefits the most from this man killing a doctor?" Drake asked. "We certainly don't. Pro-life people certainly don't. It hurts us. It damages us, but Obama will indeed advance it. This will be one of those crises to take advantage of, and he's already done that."
Drake said he had no evidence and admitted his opinion for now is "pure speculation."
"Everybody said [Lee Harvey] Oswald was a lone gunman, et cetera, et cetera, too," he said. "But I think we're going to find there was somebody else involved."
Drake said Tiller's murder would be a setback for pro-life Christians seeking to end abortion by legal and proper means. He said he also expects to see answers to other imprecatory prayers in the days ahead.

Well, yeah, we're all going to die one day. Me, you, Wiley Drake, Barack Obama, and the cute little kid on the Gerber baby food jar. But that doesn't mean a prayer has been answered.

Brother Drake, if you want to oppose President Obama's policies, start a blog. Go to some protests. Hand out some yard signs in the next election. Write a letter to the editor. But the most useless, counterproductive, and idiotic thing I can imagine anyone doing? Going on talk shows claiming that you've prayed for Obama to die.

"God says very clearly in his Word that we are to continue to pray and he will answer our prayers," Drake said.

Ok, I'm going to give it a shot. God, I know that I'm a sinner. But please, please help me see things from Wiley Drake's point of view. But don't stick my head all the way up my rear end.

Sing Oldham, vice president for convention relations with the SBC Executive Committee, was unavailable for comment until late on May 4. Mr. Oldham said blah blah blah blah.....you can hit the links up top to see him distancing himself from Drake much like Obama distanced himself from Reverend Wright.

I've been trying to restrict my theology posts to Sundays, or do away with them altogether. The Southern Baptists just keep pulling me back.

Pics from the You Will Anyway blog (a blog worthy of further study, BTW). A fresh coat of whitening to Little Green Footballs for the link.

Eco-Hippies Mourning The Loss Of Some Trees

There are all sorts of things I've tucked away for a rainy day, or even worse, for a rainy day stuck in a hotel room in Thomson, Georgia.
Here's a YouTube video of a group of hippies ceremonially mourning the loss of some trees.

Some people might think they're over-reacting. But this is EXACTLY what it feels like when you realize you're going to be spending the weekend in Thomson, Georgia.
