The Three Women Who Led Barack Obama Into War With Libya
Lord have mercy, what a week.
Here's Ann Althouse on the Code Pink group, and the three women who led Barack Obama by the nose into Libya.
Well, Ms. Althouse doesn't agree to let an interesting theory get in the way of some cold hard facts:
Here's the latest zinger from Ms. Althouse:
Ouch.
She Whose Name Is Not Spoken has already announced that she doesn't want to be Secretary Of State any longer. I'll bet dollars to donuts that she's going to run against The Teleprompter next year.
To the eternal credit of the Code Pink group, they did design this little gem of a poster:
That was before we opened a 3rd front in the Middle East.
Code Pink doesn't have anything condemning this latest "intervention" on their website yet. We'll see.
They do have a bookmark that you can slip into copies of Don Rumsfeld's biography that accuses him of being a war criminal.
Here's the bookmark that stealth shoppers can slip into unsold copies of George Bush's "Decision Points".
And here's a handy link telling readers how to execute a citizen's arrest, just in case they want to detain one of the warmongers from the Bush administration.
I'm looking forward to seeing the bookmark they design to slip into copies of "Dreams From My Father", by Barack Obama.
I'm looking foward to seeing these ladies take to the streets in protests next week.
Or not.

It's the opposite of the Code Pink idea that women bring the peace. How long have I heard this feminist plaint: If only women had the power, we would have peace, not phallocratic war.
Well, Ms. Althouse doesn't agree to let an interesting theory get in the way of some cold hard facts:
In a Paris hotel room on Monday night, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton... changed course, forming an unlikely alliance with a handful of top administration aides who had been arguing for intervention. Is this kinda like Bush being led into war by Rumsfeld and Cheney? I'm sure that the facts will come out later.
Within hours, Mrs. Clinton and the aides had convinced Mr. Obama that the United States had to act...
... Mrs. Clinton joined Samantha Power, a senior aide at the National Security Council, and Susan Rice, Mr. Obama’s ambassador to the United Nations, who had been pressing the case for military action, according to senior administration officials speaking only on condition of anonymity. Ms. Power is a former journalist and human rights advocate; Ms. Rice was an Africa adviser to President Clinton when the United States failed to intervene to stop the Rwanda genocide, which Mr. Clinton has called his biggest regret.
Now, the three women were pushing for American intervention....
Here's the latest zinger from Ms. Althouse:
To ally with Power and Rice, Clinton had to make "an unusual break with Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates, who, along with the national security adviser, Thomas E. Donilon, and the counterterrorism chief, John O. Brennan, had urged caution." Oh, timid men. Step aside! Yield to the boldness of women.
Ouch.

"No Blood For Oil" - Libya edition
From my buddies over at the Gotta Get Drunk First blog. A couple of headlines dated exactly 8 years apart:
MARCH 19, 2011
OBAMA: 'Today we are part of a broad coalition. We are answering the calls of a threatened people. And we are acting in the interests of the United States and the world'...
MARCH 19, 2003
BUSH: 'American and coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger'...
Is there anyone out there who thinks we'll be out of Libya in 8 years?
Any takers?
According to some of the Talking Head on Meet The Depressed this morning, we're already moving beyond enforcing the "No Fly Zone". We've already bombed a few of Gaddafi's troops. We're taking sides in a civil war. Qaddafi is a very bad man, but we have no freakin' clue as to the character or goals of the people opposing him. If I'm not mistaken, the complexity of Libya's tribal loyalties makes Iraq look as homogeneous as a Klan rally.
We have learned absolutely nothing from the past 8 years.

Barack W. Bush as compared to George Hussein Obama
Long-time Libertarian Party leader Wes Benedict and his staff came up with this gem. It's part of a flyer to take to just about any political gathering - peace walk, Tea Party, NORML rally, anti-war protest, 2nd amendment rally, or 9-12 parade.
Go here for a look at the complete PDF.
The best part of the flyer? Here are the worst disasters of the Barack W. Bush administration, as compared to those of the George Hussein Obama era. Compare each number from the Demoblican period to its counterpart in the earlier Republicrat regime:
Top 10 disasters of the 2009 Obama administration (in no particular order):
1. Cash for Clunkers
2. War escalation in Afghanistan
3. Giant government health care expansion bill
4. Post office loses money hand over fist
5. Stimulus package
6. Expansion of "state secrets" doctrine
7. Big increase in unemployment
8. "Bailout" Geithner as Treasury Secretary
9. Skyrocketing federal spending
10. Huge federal deficits
Top 10 disasters of the 2001-2008 Bush administration:
1. Cash for Car Companies
2. War in Iraq
3. Giant Medicare expansion bill
4. Post office loses money hand over fist
5. Stimulus "rebate" checks
6. PATRIOT Act
7. Big increase in unemployment
8. "Bailout" Paulson as Treasury Secretary
9. Skyrocketing federal spending
10. Huge federal deficits

Happy Guantanamo Closing Day ! ! !

I almost missed this one.
HAPPY GUANTANAMO CLOSING DAY ! ! !
Here's Jacob Sullum of Reason magazine, whose posts I've ripped off so many times I might as well just link to his stuff every morning:
In case you missed the nonevent, the military prison for suspected terrorists and other assorted "enemy combatants" at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, did not close today. It may be years before it does, assuming President Obama ultimately delivers on that promise. In any case, the policy of keeping people locked up indefinitely without trial will continue, supplemented by a policy of keeping them locked up even if they are tried and acquitted. The New York Times reports that "the Obama administration has decided to continue to imprison without trials nearly 50 detainees...because a high-level task force has concluded that they are too difficult to prosecute but too dangerous to release." The task force said about 40 other detainees "should be prosecuted for terrorism or related war crimes," but that does not mean they will be released if they are found not guilty. The remaining 110 or so detainees are supposed to be "repatriated or transferred to other countries for possible release," but it's not clear when they might happen.
Hit the link to read the whole thing.

I should also note that Obama has been Supreme Military Commander for the Iraq war for a year. Enjoy the widget to your immediate right.
Gay and lesbian marriage still ain't legal. Pot still ain't legal. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is still in place.

But on the other hand, military contractors and weapons manufacturers are still raking in money with both hands. The D.C. voucher program, which was phenomenally effective, has been sacrificed for the Teachers' Unions. The stimulus plan has rewarded almost every loyal democrat contributor. Wall Street has been allowed to gamble with house money. The people who are too big to fail haven't been allowed to fail. The evil, capitalistic, greedy insurance companies have a plan underway to get 30 million new customers added to their databases. Before long, they won't have to sell insurance policies to anyone but Congress, since Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn know exactly what I need.
Happy One Year Anniversary to Hope and Change ! ! !

George Bush, Bush Light, and helping feeble race-mongering Democrats down the steps
An odd thing happened before the recent Beer Summit at The White House.
To end the recent unpleasantness between Sergeant James Crowley and Harvard's African-American Studies professor Henry Louis Gates, our President, (now known on these pages as Bush Light - the beer that never lifts you up, and always lets you down...)
....decided to have Professor Gates and Sergeant Crowder over to the White House for a Bud Light.
Charges of racism, racial profiling, and stupidity had been thrown around. We'll never know exactly what happened during the arrest at Gates' home, but the black officer who was on the scene with Crowley has his opinions. Crowley and Gates left the meeting "agreeing to disagree", and I bet Gates is going to milk the incident on the academic lecture/vaudeville/victimology circuit for the rest of his life.

Amazing. Truly amazing. Bush Light can't get even the smallest details right, and half the nation still wants to trust him with most of their money and all of their health.

But I digress. Here's a picture of Obama, Professor Gates, and the supposedly racist cop leaving the White House for the "can't we all just get along" Beer Summit.
Note the compassion and empathy that Bush Light is showing to The Perfesser, who has to walk with a cane. Take note of the racist cop.

Amazing. Truly amazing. Bush Light can't get even the smallest details right, and half the nation still wants to trust him with most of their money and all of their health.
Here's a picture the older, non-light, budget-busting Bush with Senator Robert Byrd (Mommy Party, West Virginia), a former community organizer for the Ku Klux Klan.
Bush was a financial disaster, but at least he knew how to help a feeble race-mongering Democrat down the steps.
